I often express to my athletes, that if you can't hold it, then it is going to be difficult to, pull it, push it, grab it, snatch it, clean it, etc... So with our holds, we generally aim for about two or three minutes. It doesn't really matter where you start, for instance it could be thirty seconds. Objectively, you want to just try to add time on as you go along. It's all about progression, so as long as you are moving up the ladder, you are avoiding plateaus. This is what's going to get you fitter by performance, and all around the board!
A couple of my athletes, Kris and Gloria, practice the handstand hold. Both of these ladies, are in great shape, and really give it their all, every time they train! Here, Kris shocked me with holding the handstand for 3 minutes!! That is amazing, I by far can't hold the handstand for 2 minutes, let alone 3! Goria and I, could have went out for coffee, and Kris would have still been holding the handstand, incredible!
